Mikey Way's DC Comics Halloween Story - PRE-ORDER/COVER ART!

(I figured I'd make this real easy for people who are interested...it's link-tacular, but hopefully all of those sources are helpful to everyone.)

A lot of people heard last month that Mikey Way was working on a story for the DC Comics Halloween issue...

This weekend DC added the cover art and additional info to their site and it's available for pre-order everywhere:

Their entry into the DC catalog can be found HERE...it looks like the book is going to arrive Wednesday October 22nd (23rd in the UK), run about 80 pages, and cost about $6 USD (cheaper if you check out the links I dug up below)...having been a fan of DC's Halloween issues since I was all of seven years old or so I can tell you from experience -- if you pick up one comic this year, it should be this one. (If you pick up two or three, be sure to get the finally-coming-back-into-print Watchmen hardcover or The Umbrella Academy: Dallas by Mikey's brother, Gerard)

I did some digging and found pre-order links for those of you wanting to secure the Halloween issue with Mikey's Batman story...

If you've got a local comic shop, do the right thing and spend your money there (just be sure to swing by this week and make sure they'll save a copy of the issue for you)! If you don't...well, hopefully these help:
* Those of you in the US can get it from Heavy Ink (or alternately from HERE, HERE, or HERE)
* Those UK folks can find it at the awesome Forbidden Planet site...

Written by Michael Way, Mark Verheiden, Mike Johnson, Brian Reed and others. Art by Trevor Hairsine, Duncan Rouleau and others. Cover by Gene Ha. The Horror! The Horror! Could this be the final Halloween for the DCU? Evil has won, and there are no treats! Witness tales of terror featuring Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Titans, El Diablo, Faust and others by past, present and future DC greats. UPC: 76194127777600111

Source (they even added it on the Comic Books Beta facebook for you fb'ers)

Oh man. So excited about this. If Mikey way is secretly as adept at telling a story as Gerard is, then this will be awesome. DC may make some decisions that I may not necessarily agree with (Dick Grayson getting his own tv series for example, with McG as executive producer), but I do have faith in their ability to spot a writer who can tell a good story.

Thanks for posting this!

I'm a DC whore, so I'd end up picking this anyways, but, ah, I dunno. To be honest I was hesitant about The Umbrella Academy but I ended up being pleasantly surprised (of course, Gerard was actually going to do comics for a career. . . )

Here's hoping that he did a good job on it.

and it's irrelevant but +1 for the Gene Ha cover :D

edit: WTF IS THIS A FINAL CRISIS TIE IN ("Could this be the final Halloween for the DCU? Evil has won, and there are no treats!")
what the hell DC.

I'm smack bang in the middle of the Batman R.I.P. storyline right now, and I'm heartily pissed at DC for these "R.I.P. Tie-Ins". Outside of the actual Batman title, the tie-ins aren't actually essential to the story, so there's no need to buy all those issues of Batman Detective, Robin and Nightwing. Personally, I feel cheated.

I think Mikey should be given more credit. Sure, Gerard has more training in this area than him, but it's not exactly new news that Mikey loves comic books (or graphic novels, what have you). I'm sure he knows how to write a good story based off of his knowledge and love of comics.

Thank you! I totally agree.

Plus, like someone mentioned in another post regarding this, they do halloween specials with guest writers every year - so just because Mikey's getting a turn doesn't necessarily mean he's going to make it a regular thing. He's probably just in Geek Heaven at being asked to do this one-off! I'm really happy for him. :}

He did read that Green Goblin trade without realising it contained an MCR song reference until he actually saw it as he was reading it. And he read this despite the fact that the story apparently sucked, according to both him and Frank. ;)

Just a head's up:

TFAW is sold out of the pre-order for the comic. I e-mailed asking if they'd get more in and the guy said it was possible they'd get more in stock in the future.
